My toddler has been at Sharon's for a year and a half, and has really thrived there. She is speaking and understanding Mandarin quite well, despite having no other Mandarin exposure than daycare. When my daughter is at Sharon's I can go about my daily responsibilities with the utmost confidence that she is in the best hands possible. Communication has always been great, Sharon texts with any updates or questions and we also got a "report card" sent home each day with the number of bottles/ounces drank, wet/dirty diapers, naptimes. The space is very clean and spacious. My daughter settled in very quickly and enjoys going each day. I feel incredibly fortunate to have found such an exceptional childcare provider. Sharon's commitment to providing a nurturing, safe, and loving environment for my daughter is evident in everything she does. It's been amazing watching my daughter develop her own relationships with Sharon and her assistant Yoyo. I truly feel that they care for her, and we are lucky to have them in our lives.

Sharon and her assistant, Yo-yo, have taken care of both of my children over the past two years. They are wonderful, devoted caregivers that genuinely love babies and toddlers. My children adore them. My 9 month old squeals with happiness when he hears Sharon's voice on the intercom each morning. Sharon is very focused on the basics (good naps, full feedings) and both my kids sleep better and are more regulated under her care. Sharon manages to be both laid back, and very careful and attentive, at the same time. Sharon has transformed my experience of being a mother and I am so grateful to her. We love you, Sharon!

My daughter was under Sharon's care since she was 5.5 months old. Sharon and her assistant are very caring and attentive. They keep the place very clean. Every morning when I dropped off my daughter, I saw them steam-cleaned the floor. They also provide nutritious meals and snacks to the kids. My daughter loved going there and looked forward to playing with her friends. She also learned different expressions and songs in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. Thanks to Sharon and her assistant, my daughter is ready for preschool. I wanted to send my son who is now 4 months old to this daycare but Sharon has recently relocated to Hayes Valley which is far from where I live and work. We are so thankful to have found Sharon's childcare for my daughter, who just transitioned to preschool.

Our daughter Elena attended Modern Education Family Childcare for two years since she was 15 months old. Now my daughter is in Noriega preschool, thanks Sharon.

Sharon were wonderful! They helped us a lot through several hard transmissions and always kept us very informed.

They have an amazing room for the kids to have fun with.

My husband and I were lucky to find Sharon. My son has been attending for the past year, since he was 3.5/4 months. We were hoping that he'd stay until he transitions to preschool, but sadly, we're moving and we have to leave. We can only hope that we find a place as wonderful as Sharon's.

When I drop off my son, he gets really excited, laughs, and reaches out his arms for Sharon (or her assistant Yoyo). Sometimes he doesn't even bother to say bye to me. It's reassuring that he likes going to Sharon's house.

Sharon is caring, responsive and accommodating. My son has eczema, and Sharon applies lotion on him during the day. We asked and Sharon provided a daily report of when my son ate and the number of diapers. We provided food for our son until he was around 12 months, and after that, he ate the food that Sharon provided. The ratio of children to caregiver is low, which is not common based on my tours of other places.

Her place is also very clean - my son is usually the first one to be dropped off at 8am, and I can see Yoyo steam cleaning the floors or wrapping up the cleaning.

Unrelated but I also like that the location is near Daly City bart station. It was very convenient for me to pick off/pick up my son when I took bart into/out of SF.

All in all, I highly recommend Modern Education Family Daycare.

First of I want to thank Ms. Sharon for taking care of my son! Ms. Sharon is very patient and kind. She has taught my son the alphabets and how to count. I would definitely recommend this Child Care and Day Care center to others. What's the most important thing in early childhood? Well for me is able to let my child learn as much and he or she can and be very open minded to things. Back to Ms. Sharon, she offers all that here.

We've had such a wonderful experience with Ryan's daycare. Our daughter has been here since she was 5 months, and it has truly felt like a second home for her. She asks to go to Ryan's and to see her friends even on the weekends. Because it's a small family daycare, they really are tending each child closely--their personality, routines, preferences, and what they need at different stages. We've always felt that our daughter is genuinely cared for, not simply supervised. Ryan keeps the cohort small very high teacher to kids ratio (maximum 1:3). She has formed close relationships with both the caregivers and the other children, and she is happy and comfortable going to daycare every day. It has been especially meaningful to watch her grow from a baby into a confident, increasingly independent toddler in an environment where she feels safe and loved. We're very grateful for all the love and care they have given her and would happily recommend to other families looking for a warm, close-knit environment for their child.

Ryan and Qing take excellent care of my daughter. From healthy meals to a variety of activities, it's clear they are passionate about what they do. My daughter enrolled at 18 months and has thrived since her time at Modern Education, hitting developmental milestones, maturing, and making close friends. They are also flexible with days which my wife and I appreciate. Highly recommend for new parents.

Our son has been attending Modern Education in Soma with Ryan and Qing since he was 13 months old, and is now 30 months old. It has been such an amazing transition for us, as first time parents sending our child to daycare, as well as for our son, socializing and playing with others with a Montessori-like approach.

When we first arrived for our tour, all the children were sitting in their Montessori-style chairs at the dining table (child-height) waiting patiently for their breakfast. We were blown away! Our son's social, emotional, and educational development has really thrived in this environment, with a low teacher-student ratio (1:3 max). Now, he comes home saying new words and knowing knew songs and concepts and we attribute it all to his daycare!

We also love that they take field trips to the nearby playgrounds and Children's Creativity Museum, and during the summer, they attend the Children's Festival at Yerba Buena every Friday. The families who've attended alongside us are so friendly, and we remain in touch for future playdates and birthdays even as our kids graduate to preschool.

Ryan and Qing have also been very mindful of our son's food allergies (egg and dairy) in his daily meal and snack preparations, as well as celebrations - buying him a special vegan cupcake, and making sure most, if not all, of the treats and snacks are allergy-friendly!

I could not recommend Modern Education Family & Ryan and Qing enough! We will be very sad to leave soon, as our son is nearly of age to go to preschool.

We sent our son to Modern Education Family Childcare for the whole year before preschool. We are so thankful that we found this place and how well Ryan and Qing took care of my son. The 3 greatest things I saw in this place was (1) small children to teacher ratio (2) play time in the nearby Creativity Museum and Yerba Buena Park (3) opportunities for all families to bond. It is a small place but children get more attention because of that. Ryan and Qing are super reliable. When my son started daycare, he was afraid of strangers but soon immediately he started hugging Ryan and Qing and created a strong bond. Every week, older children get to go out to the park and even the museum to explore. Also, we became so close to other families and their children. We share a lot of info and sometimes just hang out for fun. My son enjoyed going to the daycare and became more independent everyday.

This place felt more like a loving family home than an institution. It's the perfect environment to gently introduce young children to the concept of socializing for the first time in their lives.

I cannot express enough how grateful I am to have found Modern Education Family Childcare for our precious daughter. She started attending when she was just a baby, and over the course of 1.5 years, our experience has been absolutely fantastic. From the moment we walked through the doors, we knew we had found the perfect place for her.

Ryan and his team are truly exceptional. They possess an unmatched level of dedication, professionalism, and genuine love for the children they care for. They go above and beyond to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for the kids.

Our son attended Modern Education Family Childcare starting at 5 months old.

We have nothing but positive things to say about them. They had excellent communication, and consistently sent pictures multiple times a day and a daily log of activities. They were accommodating of changes of schedules and open to new ideas (we did baby led weaning).

But what we appreciated the most was their caring and attentive personalities to uplevel our son's development. For example, they used different activities to help motivate our son to crawl; they created a custom milk/food schedule to help him wean off breastmilk.

No wonder our boy would smile every time he arrives at daycare! He absolutely loved them and never wanted to leave when we picked him up.

Modern Education Family Childcare was more than a daycare for us - they felt like an extension of our family. We are bummed we had to leave as we moved out of state, but would highly recommend this daycare to families who are looking for individualized attention that bigger daycares are not able to provide.

Ryan runs an incredible operation. He is extremely responsive, caring and accommodating to our needs. Our daughter has flourished and learned so much in Ryan and Qing's care. She actually gets excited in the morning to go to the daycare. They send us cute pics throughout the day of what she's doing. Also nice balance of outdoor activities with indoor play. The facility is clean and our daughter never contracted any germs. Overall A++

Modern Education Family Childcare was the the second daycare provider we used. We left our first provider because the owner was causing significant grief for our daughter. After one week with Ryan and Qing our daughter was much happier and smiled when we picked her up. Ryan and Qing have a clean, warm, and welcoming environment for childcare. They both have a pleasant and calm demeanor that all the children in their care seemed to respond well to. I never felt worried entrusting my little one to them. My only regret is that we didn’t find them sooner! As a bonus, we received tons of daily pictures showing us what our girl was doing that day. As the pics showed, there were plenty of activities/educational toys for the kids to be occupied with. Qing was constantly engaged with the kids in the pictures. Thank you so much, Ryan and Qing.

I cannot say enough positive things about Ryan and his team of caregivers! We do not have extended family in the area, so Ryan's team became family to our two children enrolled in his care.He runs a very professional operation, and expressed a sincere interest in the wellbeing of our two children. Here are a few of my favorite things: Ryan's calm and friendly disposition immediately made our children comfortable in his presence, while his daily greeting at pick-up/ drop-off and overall level of accessibility made myself and my husband comfortable leaving our children in his care.He helped us identify key milestones in our children's development & routine, and took the time to discuss these new developments daily. He understands that it takes more than an enrollment form to synchronize a child's style of care at home with daycare.Ryan finds special ways to engage the children, and I could always anticipate receiving pictures of the children playing during the day as well!My second child was enrolled during the pandemic. Ryan's acute knowledge of CDC Guidelines and clear communication of safety protocols made the decision to maintain daycare very reassuring. The daily consistency of safety measures and great communication gave me the confidence that we were mitigating as much risk as possible, while the children were in his care.Great communication, highly responsive, consistent safety protocol, sincere and calm demeanor.

My daughter started at Ryan's daycare during the COVID-19 pandemic. Naturally the transition caused us some worry. However, in the half year we had been sending her to the daycare, not one child or family has gotten sick. This is a testament to how well Ryan maintains the daycare and keeps it extremely clean, as well as the other families who are members of the daycare. When we pick up our daughter, Ryan always greeted us with a smile at the door and provided us with an update of how our daughter was progressing. Unfortunately we had to switch daycare since we moved to South Bay. Ryan's daycare was one of the reasons why we delayed our move. Since Ryan's daycare totally spoiled us and raised our expectation of daycares, we had hard time finding the right care of our daughter in South Bay. We have had the privilege of sending our son to Sally’s daycare in Outer Sunset for nearly two years, starting when he was 5 months old. From the very beginning Sally and her assistant Julie treated our son (and us) with profound warmth and care. While he was still an infant, she kept detailed daily records of his milk intake, sleep, and eliminations; once he was ready, she helped us introduce him to solid food and nourished him with healthy and delicious homemade meals. Sally has kept us apprised of his development and offered advice for how we can support his growth, especially gross motor and speech. She seeks to provide the kids with daily joyful experiences, from artwork, to music, to rotating toys and books. She maintains a clean, safe, and well organized environment for our son to visit every day. Each morning and afternoon Sally greets us with a big smile and our son is always so excited to see her. We are all so fortunate that he has been able to spend an early part of his life under such loving care. I believe it is one of the best experience in my son's life. Sally's daycare is very nurturing and loving. She provides as much organic food as she can. She is also very experienced and shares her tips in raising a toddler. The information is very precious to me as a new parent. She must cook very delicious food as my son ate so much at her place. She also offers variety of activities at her daycare to help my son to develop various areas. My son has no issue in adjusting to this daycare. You will love having Sally as a childcare provider because she is also flexible to the needs. Highly recommend to anyone!

Last week was my 2.5 year old last day with Sally, where she has been since she was 6 months old. When my daughter was 6 months, Sally would write down every bottle feeding, every wet diaper and nap schedule. As she got older, my daughter would literally rush out of the car and run to Sally, give her a hug and pull her up the stairs and act like she doesn't know me..and when I pick her up, she's always happy. She is always dancing and singing songs (in Chinese and English) and I know for sure she did not learn it at home. My daughter was able to count in English and Chinese and knew her alphabets and phonics at 1.5 years old. We have a very open communication with Sally and she's always telling me stories of my daughter at pickup. She would also give tips and suggestions on issues she thinks my daughter may be going through such as eczema and behavior problems.

As the time came for my daughter to depart for preschool, Sally was able to assist my daughter in potty training. It's one thing to train at home but to have a home daycare actually enforce it makes a huge difference and my daughter was fully potty trained (with several accidents, even on Sally) in less than a month.

Words cannot describe how grateful my family is to have had Sally in our lives. She has a very nurturing, caring and trustworthy demeanor. I would totally recommend Sally.

My son has been under Sally's care for 4 months now and I cannot say enough good things about her! Every single time we pick up my son he is smiling, happy and giggling. Also, he has never had any diaper rash, so I know he's getting attentive care. Sally is incredibly flexible and thoughtful and gives my husband and I tips about what to expect as our son grows when we ask for advice. Sally and her staff are really wonderful, I can't recommend her enough to prospective parents.

I am convinced this is the best daycare in California. I have a hard time finding words to describe how much we love this daycare, program and Sally. I am taking the time to write this review for other Mom's our there who are trying to find the right daycare for their family as they approach the end of maternity leave and are panicked about what to do. My husband and I interviewed over 75 daycare providers in the city. We wanted a program were our son (who was 4months old entering daycare) would be cherished, loved and encouraged to learn and grow in a safe environment. We wanted an in-home daycare with fewer attendees, tons of personal attention and a focus on learning, growing and good social interaction. I was a nervous wreck going back to work- and Sally made this transition incredibly easy on me. Sally is an incredible part of my son's life, and my families life- she is an amazing person, teacher and care giver.

The daycare itself is its own floor of Sally's home. It is meticulously maintained; clean and organized, large, with a kitchen, two play rooms and a napping nursery room. The space is filled with bright colors, educational toys and safe soft furniture. Sally takes the safety of your child incredibly seriously- something that my husband and I were very concerned with as first time parents who had no family in the area. She lets you know about everything your child is up to, from the basics (bathroom/nap habits during the day) to fun stories about what your kiddo is learning/doing. There is no better chaperone for the growth and development of your child then an experienced, gifted teacher like Sally. As new parents, we learned things from Sally which has been an incredible and unpredicted part of joining this daycare.

Sally is amazing with children, when you met her in person you can feel her confident and gentle approachable energy. All the kids and parents love Sally, and we all enjoy seeing the relationships our children are building with each other as they learn and grow together. She is so amazing with our son, his eyes light up when he sees her and starts giggling and wiggling with joy! It is so precious. Our son is only 7.5 months old and already responds to mandarin- my husband and I are amazed! Sally is incredibly accommodating, she gets to know each child and their families and works with you to make sure your needs are being met with your child's needs. Sally is the best of both worlds- she works on all the developmental skills your child needs to focus on, while also being loving and involved with your child.

If you want a daycare were your child will flourish regardless of whether s/he is shy/social, quick or slow learner, physical or introspective- this daycare, this location, this staff is the right choice. Our son is the most important things in our world, our research led us to a ton of different choices, but Sally was hands down the best one. I hope everyone has as incredible an experience with daycare as we are having with Sally, and I am writing this review as a 'pay it forward' for all other new Moms out there looking for the right option for their baby and child.

Modern Education Family Childcare is amazing! Sally, Oscar and the entire staff that we have met thus far have been so friendly, patient, and caring! We came from an absolutely awful experience with another SF provider - and frankly were having doubts about letting our child back into any day care facility. We met with Sally and Oscar to tour the facility and how quickly they took to our little girl, and how quickly she took to them - was very reassuring! We are very happy with them - and our daughter is thrilled to go to Sallys every day! Sally meets us in the driveway and my daughter literally jumps into her arms with a laugh! The facilities themselves are great! The food they serve is healthy and my daughter seems to love it! The interaction between the kids, and the adults in fact, is so genuine and loving! It makes me tear up just thinking about it. They even set up an event for all their facilities to meet at a park, so the kids could play! It was wonderful! I cannot say enough good things about Sally and Modern Education Family Childcare III!!! If you are looking for a very caring Day Care facility full of joy and attentive providers - look no further! When my daughter is happy, I'm happy - and since we started with Sally I have been nothing but happy!

The best daycare experience we could ever ask for! Our daughter was at this daycare for more than two years, starting at 6 months, and it truly became her second home. What made it so special was Pyrena. She is honestly the best caregiver we’ve ever met — caring, knowledgeable, and always learning something new. You can tell she loves what she does. She also trains the staff, so everyone there is kind, calm, and amazing with kids.

From talking to other parents, I’ve realized how rare this is. There are very few daycares where caregivers treat your child like their own, and that’s exactly how Pyrena treated ours. The bond they built made it really hard to leave. Nothing we’ve seen since even comes close.

She also planned so many activities for every age — sensory play, early learning, motor skills, group time, independent time. Our daughter grew so much socially, physically, and intellectually because of those daily routines.

One thing I loved was how much time the kids spent outside. Our daughter has always been calmer and happier outdoors, and Pyrena understood that. The outdoor time alone made such a difference for her.

And I have to mention the food. The meals and snacks were always fresh, healthy, and homemade. Pyrena cooked real food with fresh produce every day, including a lot of Chinese dishes. Because of that, our daughter eats everything now and isn’t picky at all — she actually loves Chinese food!

It’s a rare thing to feel completely at peace leaving your baby somewhere, but that’s how we felt every single day. We’re incredibly grateful for the start our daughter got here. If you’re lucky enough to get a spot, take it.

Pyrena and her team have provided both of our children the most exceptional care and love for the past 5 years. They treat the kids like their own, with love, respect and gentle discipline. They also invite families throughout the year for special events making all of us feel like one big family. We only wish our kids could stay longer and we really can't recommend this day care enough!

We highly recommend Modern Education Family Childcare Portola. Our daughter was here from age 2 to 3 and our son spent a summer here when he was 4.5 years old. We had experience with several other daycares while we were finding the right fit for our son and Modern Education has been by far the best. Some of the things we love about Modern Education are:

• Pyrena and Oscar are great communicators, giving us run downs on what the kids are learning and fun things they did and the pictures they share a highlight of our days. When our daughter was having some trouble with hitting they let us know in a non-judgemental way and we felt like partners working with them to help her through that behavior. • Our kids love it. They talk about how much they like Oscar, Pyrena, and teacher Bing-Bing all the time. It is clear they feel safe and happy at this school. • The school organizes great activities like meeting chickens and ducks at the school or fieldtrips to the library for story time. They also have great lesson plans everyday with developmentally appropriate activities like mixing food coloring to learn about the colors.

Modern Education Family Childcare (Portola) is exceptional in early education. The owners, Pyrena and Oscar, have created an educational environment that blends modern education with the warmth and comfort of a family-oriented environment. It resonates deeply with my family. They have profoundly impacted our son and, by extension, our entire family.

From our very first visit, Pyrena's depth of knowledge and innate warmth were immediately apparent. Our son, who had become increasingly withdrawn due to extended periods spent indoors during lockdowns, found himself in a relaxing and empowering environment.

They hold fun parties for most of the big holidays, both US and Chinese ones, making sure everyone feels included and celebrated. They show up at every child's birthday party, which is pretty sweet. It's like having this extended family where my son gets super excited to drop by now and then, just to hang out with his old buddies. It's the kind of place where everyone knows your name, and you're always glad you came.

Being first-time parents, we struggled to understand which daycare to choose for our son. When we met Pyrena & Oscar, we felt an immediate connection and trust that they’d be able to take care of the kid. Pyrena is a very knowledgeable person, a patient teacher, and a wonderful human.

Our kid started going to Modern Education when he turned 10 months old. Since it was during the peak of COVID-19 in 2021, Pyrena and other teachers took extraordinary precautions to have a safe environment for the kids. The family daycare is clean, spacious, and a great outdoor space. The kids indeed feel they are home at daycare, too.

Pyrena would always carefully monitor kids’ growth milestones and share with us in minute detail. This was very helpful for us to feel safe as first-time parents. Each day was photographed and shared with us so as not to miss any beautiful moments.

Teacher Yiyi Grace is caring, and the kids connect with her pretty well. She nurtured and helped our kid get out of his comfort zone. Teacher Oscar is entertaining and keeps the kids engaged in a humorous way. Teacher Gina has a warm smile in welcoming families with a bright Good Morning and always has something to say about your kid that makes you smile at the end of the day.

Our kid would always come home and discuss the fun experiences that day. Pyrena taught our kid the art of sharing and taking turns for toys with other friends. They always found ways to engage the kids with various activities, including art, butterflies, picnic walks, yoga, grocery shopping, water activities, growing plants, and many more. Pyrena & Oscar never missed teaching the kids about culture and celebrating other cultural festivities. This was often accompanied by reading them books about the same and making some artwork accordingly.

Training the kids to be independent eaters, potty practice, and grow as responsible adults was always something that we got from Pyrena & Oscar. We highly recommend Portola Modern Education Family Childcare. Our kid will miss the love and warmth of all his dear teachers and friends <3

Sending our children to this daycare was hands down the best decision we’ve made for them so far. We sent both of our daughters here and could not have imagined a more loving, nurturing environment. The program itself is based on experiential/play-based learning and is also Cantonese immersion so the children are constantly learning new concepts and skills. The program format is also smaller with a great child-teacher ratio that enables as much individual attention as needed while also giving your kids the opportunity to socialize and learn how to be with other kids (including peers, younger kids, and older kids). That socialization is also great for developing new positive habits like learning to walk or using the potty!

Finally the staff themselves are truly incredible. Both of our daughters had a strong connection with every staff member there, which speaks to the level of care and attention provided. Oscar and Pyrena (the lead administrators) are especially amazing. They are highly responsive to texts, provide real-time updates on your kids when needed, can tailor care based on needs (e.g., addressing allergies or physical therapy), and always take the time to debrief each parent on how their kids’ days went at the end of every day. There is also a great app they use for providing updates throughout the day. More than that though they consistently went above and beyond - providing extra warm clothes on days where the temperature dipped, extra bibs when the kids spit up more than usual, and extra attention when going through major transitions like the arrival of a new sibling or moving to a new house. You could not ask for a better partner in your child’s learning development. I can’t say how instrumental they were in helping us both as new parents with our first born and experienced parents with our second. This is truly a special place.

Sending our kids to Pyrena was one of the best decisions we made for our childcare needs. Both of my girls were happy to go everyday. Our eldest would speak constantly about how much fun she had with the staff and other children. We got regular updates on the mood, sleep/eat progress and any other big transitions/milestones. I had no problems trusting that Pyrena, YiYi Grace, Gina and Oscar had the best interests for our girls and would provide a nurturing and fun environment for all of the kids.

I highly recommend checking out this daycare! The main draws were the staff, individualized attention, play-based approach/outside time, great communication, hours of operation and how happy all of the children seem at both drop off and pickup!

Our son attended Modern Education for 14 months and thrived! Pyrena, Oscar, YiYi and all of the teachers at Modern Education were so kind, attentive, and thoughtful. With their care and patient teaching, our son learned so much and most importantly, was SO happy while he was there. He always wanted to stay longer at school (after a full day!) and made friends that we know he'll have for a long time. Also, they provided delicious, organic meals for him, taught him about nature and art, had plenty of outdoor time and most importantly, taught him important social emotional skills that he'll keep with him for the rest of his life. We're grateful to Pyrena and all of the teachers at Modern Education and will miss them!

Pyrena and the staff at Modern Education are extremely friendly, kind, and thoughtful. We were so grateful to have our LO at this daycare. Our son had a positive experience and truly blossomed. They created a safe and comforting environment for him. ME is a small, in-home facility that has a Montessori/Reggio Emilia emphasis. The facility is spacious with a large outdoor area for the children to explore and learn. Pyrena and her team truly go above and beyond to accommodate the children, and encourage curiosity by organizing fun projects, activities, and celebrations. It was a plus to have my son bring home his little art projects to share with us. We toured many facilities and what stood out about ME is it’s professional, yet friendly, warm, loving, and nurturing setting. In addition, ME took COVID precautious seriously and ensured they followed all safety protocols. Pryena is also very communicative, assuring, and attentive. She provided daily updates and was always quick to respond to questions and concerns. We can’t speak highly enough about ME and felt that Pryena and her team provided a genuinely positive experience for our son.

I highly recommend Modern Education Family Daycare, Portola. Pyrena, who runs the daycare, is warm, friendly, and truly loves working with kids. They are meticulous about safety standards around COVID and the daycare has a large indoor and outdoor space. What stands out about the daycare is that the teachers really love the children and embrace them as whole human beings with a child-centered approach. They also organize and run many fun activities like celebrating birthdays and graduations, day trips to McLaren park, planting and harvesting vegetables, music, and doing a wide range of arts and crafts. Finding someone to trust your children with is not easy, but Pyrena allayed our concerns and made our child feel loved and welcomed. The school is also very communicative and very quick to respond to any questions and concerns. We wholeheartedly trust Pyrena, and we've sent our first son there since he was 8 months old and will be sending our second son there too when he's old enough. We are so happy to have Pyrena in our life and sad that our first child is graduating soon!

We couldn’t have wished for a better daycare for our daughter. Pyrena and her team are the most caring, gentle and thoughtful people, always going the extra mile for the well-being of the children. They are extremely attentive to the needs of each child and always try to accommodate the child and the family. We were nervous to send our daughter to daycare given her severe food allergy, but Pyrena was able to reassure us and put a system in place which has prevented any incident. On several occasions, she even prepared special meals so that our daughter could eat with the other children. The daycare itself is clean, safe and spacious and the children have plenty of games and activities to keep them happy and stimulated. Every single day, our daughter would wake up excited to go to daycare, and came back home with a big smile on her face. Our daughter is now starting PreK and we are so sad to have to leave this wonderful little family. We couldn’t recommend them enough!

Pyrena and her team are simply the best. They've been taking care of our son since he was about 4.5 months old, and we couldn't be happier. We looked into several options before going back to work, and after our first meeting with Pyrena, we couldn't imagine going anywhere else. Pyrena's daycare is hands down one of the best. I was very anxious when the date was approaching for me to return to work and we hadn't yet found a daycare. Miraculously, Modern Education Family Childcare was opening this new location. After one visit with Pyrena, we knew that this was where we wanted our little one. Pyrena is amazing with the kids - she creates structure throughout the day but leaves plenty of time for the kids to explore and play freely as well. Pyrena provides a report daily of our daughter's activities and food. Pyrena provides amazing meals for the kids - I often think I wish I ate what my daughter did at daycare! The daycare is clean, spacious, and has great indoor and outdoor spaces for the kids to play. Throughout COVID, Pyrena and the teachers have done so much to keep all of the kids safe and healthy. We are so excited for our daughter to start pre-K this fall but so very sad to be leaving Pyrena and the amazing environment she has created at Modern Education Family Childcare. We've been extremely happy with the care that Pyrena and her team has given to our children. My son has been going to Pyrena since he was 10 months (when she was at the Folsom location) until he went to Pre-school. He was always very happy to go their and just as happy when we picked him up. Therefore it was a no brainer that we put ourselves on the waitlist when we found out we were having a second. The care is very personal and she knows each child's personality, their likes and dislikes. She provides very healthy warm lunches for the children along with snacks. I love that she exposed all the children to all types of food. Our kids are super easy and great eaters thanks to Pyrena's cooking. She also helped us potty trained our son prior to him going to pre-school. Our daughter joined Pyrena during the pandemic and they took precautionary measures daily to ensure the safety of the children and the families. If you're looking for daycare, look no further. Pyrena is definitely very passionate about her job and is extremely loving to the children. She took care of our children as if they were her own. I was always very comfortable dropping off our kids to Pyrena's and her team.

We were very lucky to get into this amazing daycare for my two sons (starting at 8months and 26months of age). Their transition into daycare was seamless and they adapted very quickly. Pyrena and her team provided a second warm, loving and nurturing home for my two sons whilst enriching their learning and development. I was amazed to see my older son put on his own socks and clothes after a couple of months at Modern Education! Covid precautions are taken seriously and it made me feel safe to drop my kids off every morning. Pyrena is very observant of my kids' personality and development. I loved hearing the insights and thoughtful updates she provides at the end of the day of how my kids approached different scenarios throughout the day. I also get lots of photos of my boys partaking in the thoughtfully planned fun activities! If you are looking for daycare, look no further! Both of our kids went to Modern Ed, starting when they were four months old. I don't think I could have a dreamed up a better daycare - it has absolutely everything that we wanted. It's a small, in-home environment with a strong Montessori/Reggio Emilia emphasis. Young children are very gently taught to clean up and share right from the beginning. Most of the toys are made of natural materials and you can tell that each toy was carefully selected to be fun, beautiful, and to inspire learning.

Pyrena runs this branch of Modern Ed and I truly believe she loves and enjoys our children almost as much as we do. We received beautiful photos of our kids having fun everyday that we cherish and will keep forever. She gives thoughtful updates about your child's day at pickup each day and is always full of smiles and fun.

This location has an equal amount of indoor and outdoor space for the kids. The two areas flow seamlessly into each other, so there is plenty of outdoor time everyday. Even on San Francisco's rainy days, Pyrena will carefully bundle up each child in adorable rainsuits and boots!

In addition to all of the above, we wanted our children to be bilingual in English and Chinese, despite the fact that we do not speak Chinese at home. Pyrena and her assistant(s) speak both Cantonese and English to the kids, and they also speak some Mandarin. The foundation our children have received at Modern Ed allowed them to get into an excellent Mandarin-immersion preschool, and now a top-notch Mandarin immersion private school in SF.

We visited many large day care centers as well as small home-based centers while looking for a place for our 5-month old daughter. There’s Pyrena’s place, then there’s a big gap and then there’s all the other centers. She really stands out. She loves the kids like they’re her own, she truly cares about their happiness, development and health. She has all kinds of interesting toys and activities for them every day, sometimes I wish I could enroll in her program myself :). Our daughter clearly loves the place very much too - she very happily gets dropped off in the morning and reluctantly stops playing in the evening during the pick-up.

We were so fortunate to have our first son under her care at Pyrena's original location (Yerba Beuna). Our son was about 7 months old when we started and was just a little over 2 years of age when we moved him to a preschool that was closer to where we lived. Pyrena is very educated on providing age appropriate learning materials/toys and challenges the kids to learn at their own pace. As first time parents, we also relied on Pyrena's expertise as she shared helpful strategies on various topics. Pyrena also cooks nutritious and delicious meals so you don't have to pack lunch (once they are able to eat solid food), which is a huge convenience! Pyrena also captured so many of our son's milestones which we will treasure forever! If you have the chance to have your child go to Pyrena's daycare consider yourself very lucky. She really is someone who you can fully trust and is very attentive when caring for the kids. Most importantly, you can tell Pyrena genuinely loves what she does and I really believe she has a gift for this. Even until this day my son will ask to see Pyrena because he loves and misses her so much! As for the new space, it is BEAUTIFUL!! Our family had the chance to visit the new daycare and it is very clean, baby proofed, and very spacious. They also have a huge back yard which is perfect for the kids to play in and for outdoor activities. Not only will your kids love Pyrena but I promise you, you will too!

I don't write reviews usually, but this day care deserves 10 stars! If you are looking for day care, I highly highly recommend Pyrena's day care. I've seen few day cares, heard stories from other mums, also hired a few nannies before, and I can tell you, Pyrena is extraordinary with kids.

Here's why I love her so much and think this day care is very different to other one out there:

1. Pyrena really cares about kids, I can tell by the way she talks and interacts with my daughter Audrey. A lot of nannies or day care out there is to make money and their job is to make sure your child is safe and fed. However Pyrena is someone who genuinely cares about your kids and their development. She taught my daughter lots of things while she was at her day care. ( For example, clean up all the toys after she's done, wash her hands before meals and after, say "thank you", be patient, share,...etc) 2. She speaks 100% Mandarin to my daughter ( which is one of the reason I sent my daughter here), but at the same time Pyrena's English is very good, so she has no issue with communicating to non-Mandarin speaking parents. 3. She cooks healthy, nutritions balance organic meals for the kids. My daughter eats so much more at Pyrena's than at home! 4. She has helper and cleaner everyday, her place is super clean and tidy

I really can't think of anything negative/complaint about this place, and I know all the other parents who send their kids here all feel the same about Pyrena!

We trusted Pyrena with our son Kostas since he was 4 months and we truly were happy to have her look after him full time all up to the age of 2! She is caring and honest and wonderful to work with. Not only did our son receive the attention a baby needs but she was also very accommodating and provided us with updates on his development and daily activities. She is knowledgeable, professional and amazing.

Our daughter Emilia has been with Pyrena since she the age of 9 months.

She is our first, so initially we had many worries about daycare, we are so grateful we have found Pyerna.

I think that the best indicator of how great Pyrena is how Emilia runs to day care each morning when I take her there. We can see how much she is happy being there, she loves the team and enjoys the other kids company.

They have great loving family feeling atmosphere. Throughout the day we get photos of the kids, at the end of the day when we pick her up we get a short brief about Emilia's day.

They also respect our dietary restriction (kosher).

In addition there a great emphasis on education and development skills, Emilia has been learning lots of words, eating around the table with a spoon without throwing food away, sharing toys and more.

We're expecting another baby soon, and we know where we would send her :)

Pyrena is a truly special person and I am so glad that our daughter Ellie was able to be in her care before we left SF. In addition to being a positive and happy person, Pyrena really cares about the children that attend her daycare and wants to help them learn and grow. She is really great about communicating the day's events and discussing any highlights.

Ellie has special needs and it was a challenge to say the least for us to find care for her in SF. Pyrena and Oscar welcomed her with open arms and didn't complain about the additional care that Ellie requires. Ellie always had a great time with her friends there, and she still smiles and says "awwww!" anytime she sees a photo of Pyrena. I highly recommend this daycare!

We have loved having our child at Modern Education. This is a family-owned daycare run out of their home. Our daughter started care here at 4 months of age, and it feels like an extension of our family. We considered many options for childcare, and have been very happy with our choice. The environment is warm and friendly and our daughter has even started to learn some Mandarin. She loves playing with the other kids and she smiles and waves goodbye when we drop her off in the morning. A hidden gem in San Francisco.

Highly Recommended! Modern Education was everything we hoped for and more! As a new mom, I was terrified of having 'strangers' watch my son. Everyone at Modern Education quickly became family and my son would reach his arms out every morning to go to one of the providers. He absolutely LOVED it there and you can tell all the other children do too. It is a loving educational space and my son came home almost every day with a new word (either in English or Cantonese) and Pyrena would give us a thorough report of everything that they did that day and of how my son was doing. I've always felt like my son is in great hands! The other thing I really liked was that they were meticulously clean and weren't overcrowded. I can't say enough great things about Modern Education! Any child would be lucky to come here!

Our experience with Modern Education Family Daycare has been incredibly warm and reassuring right from the start. From the moment our baby joined at just 3 months old, we felt so welcomed and at ease. Joyce is amazing! She's so caring, knowledgeable, and always full of positive energy each morning we drop our baby off. Our baby has been a better napper at home since going to daycare. I like that the daycare isn't overcrowded, so my baby can receive more personalized care. We love getting daily updates and photos from Alex.

Alex is our main contact and administrator and he's very responsive. He always answers our questions and provides us with any paperwork we need. We feel our baby is in great hands at daycare.

This place has been such an important part of our son's growth, development, and key to our family's wellness. Both of us back to full time on site work was upcoming and it was already hard for my wife and I to balance our hybrid work schedules and take care of our son. We felt it was early but we needed full time care. We were looking for a smaller day care center to ensure that our son got a great balance of adult attention and the opportunity to make new friends. We are grateful and impressed with the healthy meals and snacks included with the affordable monthly tuition and the end of the week pictures for our memories. We've noticed that he is able to feed himself easier, keep himself busy for alone playtime, settle down for naps/bedtime, and is a bit more comfortable being away from Mom. I would recommend this place for families looking for structured, nurturing care, with healthy habits, and at an affordable price in the South SF and surrounding areas.

We love Auntie Siu! We were referred to Modern Education Family Childcare-Mission Bay by our previous daycare provider because we wanted to find a location closer to our home.

We were so pleasantly surprised by how quickly our daughter adjusted. Auntie Siu was incredibly caring and thoughtful, always making our daughter feel safe and comfortable. I could leave each day knowing she was in great hands.

She also cooked amazing homemade meals-including foods we could never get our daughter to eat at home! Her home was always clean and tidy, and we appreciated the no-shoes policy.

We had such a wonderful experience during our time there. Auntie Siu even went all out and threw the cutest graduation party when our daughter left for TK. We will miss her so much and will definitely stop by whenever we can!

We chose Auntie Siu's Modern Family Education in Mission Bay because of amazing reviews from friends, and she exceeded our already high expectations. We started sending my son to Auntie Siu's when he was around 8 months old and his younger sister at around the same age. Whenever I drop my kids off, they run excitedly inside and I know they are being loved and cared for as if they were at home. It makes me happy to see all their milestones and developments and how safe and secure they feel with Auntie Siu, who is now like family to us.

The daycare is in a safe and convenient location in Mission Bay, on the 2nd floor inside a doorman guarded building. There is a spacious outdoor turf area and a private outdoor patio connected to it. The inside is large and spacious, with everything childproof and many different toys, puzzles, books, and arts and crafts for the children.

My kids love spending time there, and receive so much love and care from all three of the adult caretakers. I get daily text messages with pictures and updates, which is a good way for me to practice my Chinese as well.

The daycare prepares healthy, home-cooked Chinese food without salt or sugars and makes sure the children have an assortment of different activities and games, from art and drawing, to daily song and dance. I really appreciate the Chinese immersion (Auntie Siu speaks both Cantonese and Mandarin) and especially the true love and care that she and all the other caretakers exhibit. She knows each child for his or her individual personality and attributes, and gives good parenting and healthcare advice given her decades of experience.

Modern Education Family Childcare truly goes above and beyond. Auntie Siu throws birthday parties for each child on his/her birthday and other themed parties for various holidays, always managing to cook a delicious Chinese feast. She dresses them up for Chinese New Year and has parents bring Halloween costumes so the children can dress up for Halloween and other holidays as well.

Even now that my son is in preschool and has graduated, he always looks forward to returning during school holidays. We are still friends with many of the families whose kids attended daycare at the same time. Auntie Siu is like family, and we are very grateful to her.

Our son has had an amazing year at Auntie Siu's. She really goes out of her way to make everything special--from fun activities to a great play area outside, he's loved every minute.

It's tough to say goodbye now that he's off to preschool, but we're so grateful to Auntie Siu for making his early years so warm and happy. She's made her place feel like a second home.

My daughter was with Auntie Siu for more than 2 years, starting from 6 months of age. It was a truly amazing experience, and I cannot recommend it enough. She makes daycare feel like family. So many home-cooked treats, joyful birthday and holiday celebrations, but most importantly, she provides a loving and gentle environment for all of the kids. In addition, breakfast and lunch are provided, and Auntie Siu goes the extra mile to make things as easy as possible for working parents. She speaks Chinese (Cantonese) to the children (an immersive experience that we value highly), and communicates regularly via text message with pictures from the day. I honestly would want to have another baby just so Auntie Siu could look after them!

Our daughter started at Modern Education at Mission Bay when she was 11 months old. We were naturally nervous for how she would adapt to childcare for the first time but we were quickly put at ease by Auntie Siu and team. Auntie Siu was flexible with Abby's schedule and sent us photos every day to keep us updated on daily activities. The love and care that Auntie Siu showed our daughter was above and beyond our expectations!

We are so sad to leave Auntie Siu's Daycare but we must move. We have loved it there and our nearly 3 year old has been there for about 9 months. Auntie Siu, Auntie Ying and Uncle Siu are wonderful. Auntie Siu is kind, gentle, soft spoken, engaged, patient, and loving. Auntie Ying was energetic, enthusiastic, and engaging with the kids. We were nervous enrolling in the middle of COVID because we weren't able to drop in for 'class' but she was so good about communicating with us [daily photos, updates]. She is incredibly accessible and quickly responsive far beyond what I would expect from a daycare center. She's observant, will notice your individual child's personality and engage in a way that works with them. Auntie Siu's is very flexible with your needs. She has been incredibly generous with her time, even helping us on weekends. It is obvious that she and Auntie Ying truly enjoy children. They have taught our child songs, manners, toileting, dressing themselves, motor skills, lots of Chinese ... She and her staff have been COVID cautious: vaccinated, masking, and the daycare is clean. The daycare has an outdoor area so even durig COVID the kids can get exercise and fresh air We love that we do not need to worry about providing any food and our kid loves the well balanced meals there. She even takes care of us adults sending us home with homemade meals when she knows we've worked long hours. For those who have specific concerns, we were worried about speech delay and weight issues when our child was first enrolled but being at Auntie' Siu helped incredibly. If you're worried your Chinese is not strong enough to communicate, rest assured, you can text her [or her sons] in English. We really don't have much to add for 'room for improvement'. We would have stayed and enrolled another child without question. We would highly recommend this place to any of our friends.

We enrolled our daughter at 4 months and now that she's approaching 3YO we are sad to leave Siu Yee's care. Siu Yee's daycare has been so great in many ways for our family. Not only does she provide the love and care, she provides home cooked meals 3 times a day and exposure to both Cantonese and Mandarin. What we also appreciate is that Siu Yee is flexible with early drop offs and later pick ups, which has helped our family tremendously. We appreciate the daily photos seeing our daughter play with other children. What's also great is the daycare has its own outdoor enclosed play area which allows the children to spend some time outdoors without having to go far. In the outdoor play area, there's plenty of toys including activity stations. Pre-Covid, we enjoyed meeting all the other families especially during birthday parties where everyone would get together at the end of the day with Siu Yee providing more food than you can eat with leftovers for us to take home. After two kids and five years, this past Friday was our last day at Modern Education Family Childcare, as our younger child is moving on to preschool. Auntie Siu has become a beloved part of our family, and we'll miss her dearly. She's gone above and beyond anything I've ever heard of at any other childcare, and her love for her kids is obvious. From working with us to manage our son's allergies to thoughtfully sending home-cooked food home to my wife when she was pregnant, she's been a gift to our family. In the covid-era reopening, they've been particularly careful, and it's clear that they're following all precautions, from consistent mask use and disinfecting hands and surfaces to avoiding social contact outside of childcare hours. If you're lucky enough to join MEFC, I can't recommend them highly enough.

We have been so thankful for Modern Education. It is a great feeling to drop off our son at a day care where he is loved, well-fed, and learning. The kids at Modern are taught to play with each other, how to have good table manners (for toddlers), and to greet adults. Auntie Siu knows each of the kids so well, we love hearing stories about our son from someone that is so loving and attentive. Our son has been at Modern since he was 3 months old and we are looking forward to seeing him go from the youngest to one day being the oldest with lots of Modern Education "brothers and sisters" to play with.

Best daycare ever! Both of my kids went here and I feel so lucky to have been able to give them an experience like this as infants/toddlers. Both kids were well cared for and fed amazing homecooked food. Beyond the basics of competent care, the gift of multiple languages and a diverse diet have really set them on a great path in life. The only real challenge to this daycare has been finding street parking for drop-offs and pickups, which has gotten progressively worse as mission bay is developed.

My son attended MEFC from age 2.5-3.5. I found the place by chance as I was touring other daycares in the area and I feel so lucky that my son was able to be in the care of Auntie Siu. Not only is the place always clean and bright, but Auntie Siu and her assistant were so loving, kind, patient, nurturing and engaging. Auntie Siu truly loves the kids she cares for. We only left bc we moved out of the city and it was time for our son to go to preschool. Auntie Siu threw our son a little farewell party and had tears when she had to say goodbye. There is nothing like knowing your child is being cared for by someone who loves him.

Siu is a caring provider who feels more like a family member. She’s warm and instantly connects with little ones. Home cooked meals, outdoor time throughout the day, family festival celebrations, lots of play and reading, and learning Chinese. Love Siu and her family. Our kid still asks for her by name 2 years after we stopped daycare, now that she’s school age, and refuses to let anyone else watch her if we need to leave her for a few hours in care at odd hours. Siu is our go to for childcare!

We would highly recommend this daycare! My daughter came here from 3 months to over 2 years, and loves Auntie Siu like a second mother. During this time, my daughter developed her language skills very quickly and can clearly understand and speak clearly not only English, but Cantonese and Mandarin (and sings songs in those languages!). She also is very well-fed with nutritious and delicious foods. It's very clear that Auntie Siu and her family/staff love the children at the daycare and do a great job of taking care of them. They also go out of their way to remember and celebrate important occasions with you, like they're part of the family. We recently moved to the East Bay - otherwise I would have no qualms about sending our second child here.

My son was very lucky to get into Ms Wan Sui Wong's daycare when he was 10.5 months old. Sui yee (auntie Sui) and her staffs are very experienced and had taken a great care for him. Kids there are friendly and caring for others, which I found very important for him to adapt quickly and make friends. He ate very well and thrived to be a happy and caring kid. He picked up English, Mandarin and Cantonese pretty well. We always knew that he was in good hands. Due to job relocation we had to leave, otherwise, I would have brought my second child to her without a doubt. They not only care for kid's well-being, but they also understand different developmental stages and can properly provide them intellectual needs. Once the kids are able to walk, they go out to play at the nearby playground; occasionally, they go to the SF library for kids' activities. Sui yee has treated us like her family and she will always be part of our family. Modern Education Childcare is a Great Daycare for babies, and we believe they have prepared my son for his next transition.

My son was at Modern Education Family from the age of 4m-2y11m. Auntie Siu is like a second mom to him, and while my son has graduated to preschool, she will always be family! The Mission Bay area is great, so central to the library, a beautiful playground a block away, and wonderful walking paths in the park. My son had a wonderful time here, and I love how much Chinese he understands(not spoken at home). He loved Auntie Siu's cooking, too! It's always hard to put your child in another's care, but I came to know what good hands he was in.

It took us more than 4 years before we finally had our beautiful baby. Naturally I am very protective of her. Oscar, Mrs. Siu and the rest of her staff have provided the best care for our daughter and anyone who is lucky enough to get a spot here will be very happy.

Due to my personal situation, we have made the choice to take baby out of childcare, and it has nothing to do with Modern Education. They have been so understanding and supportive of my decision and I know my baby will miss them a lot. Frankly, I will miss them too.

If your child is lucky enough to get into this daycare, take the spot. For 2.5 years our daughter was in the capable caring hands of Wan Siu Wong and her family. Our daughter is confident healthy and happy. Because of the excellent care she received at Modern Education my partner and I were able to work and take comfort in knowing that she was in good hands. Auntie Siu cooks for the kids in her care and looks out for them as though they were part of her family. As new parents you worry about everything. Finding a great daycare helps ease the stress of parenting, and Modern Education Childcare is a Great Daycare.

Our daughter was cared for nearly full-time by Siu Yee and her assistent, Lynn, from the age of 4 to 10 months. We were THRILLED with the care she received there. It was with great reluctance, and due to outside factors, that we moved her to another center. Siu is an extremely experienced, gentle and loving provider - absolutely perfect for infants and toddlers who thrive in her environment. Even at such a young age, my daughter greeted Siu with a wide smile and nearly jumped into her arms each morning. I felt so completely comfortable leaving her for my full day at work. My daughter ate and slept better there than at home, enjoyed full days of activity (walks to park and library, play in their outside space) and flourished in the safe, clean home-setting of this center. Although primarily mandarin-speeking, I had very few issues communicating with Siu regarding the day-to-day needs of my daughter. Her son, Oscar, was always immediately available via phone or email, and even in person by request, to assist in translating more complex topics. I was very sad to remove my daughter from this center, and plan to bring her by to visit. Siu, Lynn and Oscar are people my husband and I want keep in my daughter's life.

Our daughter is almost two and a half and has been with Mrs. Siu and team for the better part of the year. It has quite literally been the most amazing experience and as a parent I couldn't wish for more. Mrs. Siu is like the sweetest person on earth and Oscar is always there to help us with anything we need.

Of course the opinion of parents is great, but when it comes down to a two year old, it's how they feel and act that makes all the difference. Our daughter can't wait to go to school every day. She has been so much happier and engaged since we transferred her to Mrs. Siu's care. It's amazing how much difference a caregiver can make in a kids life.

To say that modern daycare is the best daycare is an understatement. They are family and we love them.

There are few words to describe the impact a kind, thorough caregiver has on a young child's development. We have found that level of kindness and caring in Mrs. Siu and her team and family. This hidden gem is centrally located in Mission Bay and has been a blessing for us. Our toddler looks forward to school, her stroll by the creek, her teachers, playing with her new best friends, yummy homemade food, and playing outdoors daily. She has also surprised us with a few Chinese words! This is truly a find and like a second family to us. From a birthday gift to our toddler to being flexible to stay late when our job schedules run behind, Mrs. Siu is the definition of empathy itself. Her experience and knowledge show. We have gotten to know and connected with other families as well. We will miss this daycare once we need to transition to preschool and wish we could take Mrs. Siu with us in the new school year!

I can't say enough good things about Siu Yee. She genuinely cares about the kids at her daycare and it shows. She takes time to get to know each child and figures out what works for them. My son started going to Siu Yee when he was 4 months old. He instantly grew fond of her and didn't cry during drop offs.

My son is a picky eater and Siu Yee got him to eat a lot of new foods that I wasn't able to. She makes delicious home cooked meals and provides fresh fruits everyday. Thanks to Siu Yee, he now loves avocado and authentic Chinese soups among many other foods.

Siu Yee is very knowledgable about young children. She has a wealth of knowledge of eating and sleeping habits. She's very patient and understanding when it comes to growing pains. She's always sympathetic when my son is teething or not feeling well. She takes it upon herself to give him even more affection during those tough times.

If we ever need to reach Siu Yee at an odd hour, we can email or text Oscar. Oscar is very friendly and handles all of the administrative matters. He has gotten to know my son quite well. I can go on and on about how warm and caring Siu Yee and Oscar are.

My son was with Siu Yee for one year on a part-time basis at the Victoria Street location. We were so sad that we couldn't work out the logistics to have him follow her to the new location. During the one year that he was with Siu Yee, we knew that he was in good hands.

My daughter has been going to Siu Yee Yee since she was 3 and 1/2 months old. I was hesitant about leaving my baby, so young, in the hands of strangers at first, but came to realize Siu Yee Yee treats her daycare children like her own family!

My daughter has been at going to Modern Education Family Childcare for 14 months now and she adores Siu Yee Yee. She's always very excited to see Siu Yee Yee and vice versa. Some days we can't even get her to leave quietly with us because she loves being at daycare and being with Siu so much. I know she always gets healthy and nutritious meals with Siu. And my daughter is also learning so much in English and Chinese. One day, we found her counting to five and we realized it was something she had learned there. She's not even 18 months old yet and can recognize letters, numbers and count to five. We love Siu Yee and the attention our daughter gets with her and how much our daughter has grown and learned from her.

We love Siu Yee so much, we actually followed her to her new location at 4th St. My daughter has been at this location since the beginning of February and it has been great. At this location, they get to go to the library to hear songs, the park and walks along the pier to see the boats! I can tell my daughter loves it and she comes home with us everyday with a new word to added to her vocabulary.

Modern Education Family Childcare is really a great service. Oscar, the main contact and administrator is excellent as well if we have any issues that I can't figure out how to say in Chinese to Siu Yee; he always relays any messages to her in a timely manner. Siu Yee is one of the best daycare providers in San Francisco and my husband, daughter and I are so grateful to have her as a part of our lives!

Our daughter who is 3 yr old now has been going to this daycare since she was 16mos. When I started looking at daycares for my 16mos, my first priority was ease of transition for my young daughter. I toured several family daycares and many of them felt like a business, where they tried to squeeze in as many children legally allowed and many lacked the personal feel. With Auntie Siu, I got the "home" environment I was looking for and I was very happy to find Auntie Siu was a very warm and gentle woman to our daughter. It was also an added bonus that she continued to speak to my daughter in Mandarin, since our desire was to have her exposed to Mandarin as much as possible. I was so impressed when one day my daughter came home and surprised me by counting 1 to 10 in Mandarin! In addition, I like the balanced home cooked meals she serves daily, particularly when she reports back to me that my daughter loved to eat her vegetables. As a first time parent, every milestone in your child's life seems like such a challenge. So I was very grateful when Auntie Siu helped me potty trained my daughter and guided us in what we needed to do at home to reinforce the training. August was our last month with Auntie Siu and I was so touched by her thoughtfulness when she gave our daughter a good-bye present which included books and a picture collage. I am so grateful that I found Auntie Siu and will highly recommend her to others.

We feel so lucky to have found Modern Education Family Childcare. We starting taking our daughter here in February, at 3 months old. Our daughter loves Auntie Siu and smiles upon arrival. Auntie Siu is warm and caring, and she is very knowledgeable about child development. We feel our daughter is in great hands at Modern Education.

My husband and I started sending our daughter here since she was 3 months old. We were glad that we found this great daycare for our daughter. My daughter adored Ah Siu yi yi, when I took her there in the morning, she would extend our her hands and wanted yi yi to hold her. That meant a lot to us especially to see that our child is happy at the daycare. It's not easy to find a good family operated daycare, glad we found one so close to our home. Ah Siu yi yi is very nice and very understanding, she is so easy to accommodate with our work schedule, she never says no to us. Ah Siu yi yi is also a good cook, she makes very nutritional meals for all the kids..My daughter loves to eat her food...that's one thing I am grateful because my daughter loves eating vegetables and fruits. very healthy. Unfortunately, we had to move to east coast late last year...I was heart broken to take my daughter away from her friends and also from Ah Siu yi yi. As a caring yi yi, Ah Siu had called me few times over the months to check in with me on my daughter, that's how caring she is. how i wish I can find a place like this here....a daycare that my daughter feels safe and can call "home"...I highly recommend to check out this place!

Modern Education Family Childcare is a great daycare center. We had a very positive experience here with our 15 month old daughter. This is a family operation, and that adds a nice feeling to it.

They are friendly, warm and professional and have a nice mix and variety of activities. We also felt very safe since they have all the proper equipment, including a gate at the door that requires them to "buzz in" any visitors. Oh, and there is no need to worry about any language gap, because Oscar is completely fluent in both English and Chinese.

We feel that our daughter really blossomed with this sweet family daycare and would definitely recommend it to others! :-)

I have been sending my son here since November and we are so blessed to find someone like Siu to be so caring and seem to really enjoy taking care of children. She makes the children very nutritional meals fresh every day and has a full schedule of play, dance, and activities for the children. My son enjoys coming here so much that he doesn't even want to come home sometimes. That is a sign of a good daycare. I definitely trust leaving my son here because I am confident that he is being taken care of as if it was myself.

We highly recommend this daycare!! We are very happy with the loving care our two little girls received from Ayi (Auntie in Chinese) Siu. Our older daughter started going to this daycare when she was nine months old and our younger daughter started when she was only 8 weeks old. Ayi is loving, responsible, hard working and extremely good with kids. She prepares good meals for them and has a lot of activities for the older kids. The daycare area is always kept clean and safe. Our older daughter is always excited to go to daycare in the morning, and sometimes she's even a little sad to go home with her parents at night :)

Ayi and her whole family have become almost like an extended family of ours. We are so sad that we have to leave Ayi after a year and a half with her because we are moving to the North Bay. Our biggest anxiety is that we won't be able to find someone as wonderful with our little girls as Ayi has been!

My son has been going to this child care since June 2012. Previously before my son was going to a different daycare. Which he was not to happy about. My work schedule is Soo crazy but thanks to Modern Education they were able to work something out so I could go to work and my son enjoys going to this daycare. The people here always stay in contact with me about everything and are very educational when it comes to playing kid games. My son is learning his alphabet song is learning to count and also caught him speaking some chinese! Me & my son are very satisfied with Modern Education Family Childcare

We are very happy that we found Modern Education Family Childcare. Our 8 months old daughter has been going to this childcare for almost two months now. She is very happy and she did not cry even on her first day. The people are very caring and friendly. Not to mention the place is very clean. We have constant communication to make sure that our daughter can adjust to the new people, environment, and schedule. They are very responsive and take action to our requests and concerns. They update us on how our daughter is doing in daily basis. We highly recommend this place for those who wants to have a peace of mind for leaving their child in a good hand who knows the value of child development.

I have a two yr old boy almost 3 who’s been receiving care here since March 2012. Prior to coming here he was at a different daycare and was greatly traumatized by the abuse there. After being here for such a short period of time, he's more outgoing and is no longer afraid to go to daycare. I highly recommend this place for those who want their child to be in a safe and healthy environment. You'll be at ease leaving your child here. By the way, this place is super clean with bright natural lightings.
