FAQs
Before you enroll
What is the rate?
Before you make any decision, schedule a tour and then discuss more about it.
What is the enrollment procedure?
We know you will LOVE our daycare. And you want to put your kids in our daycare!
- Email or phone inquiry to determine a potential match between the families and the child care provider.
- Schedule an onsite visit or virtual tour with your kid and possibly with your spouse.
- Read through the Parents Handbook.
- Complete the Enrollment Application and pay all applicable fees.
How long do I need to wait?
It depends on the home and on your child's age, so we can't promise a date. Spots open when an enrolled child moves on: most often to preschool, or because the family moves out of the area or changes jobs.
When a spot opens, we reach out first to families who are already in touch with us, before we announce it anywhere else, because we already have their contact information. If you have toured a home, you can join its waitlist: we share the waitlist form during or after your tour, and waitlisted families are the first we contact. Anyone can join our free contact list: we email it when spots open.
Please keep looking at other options while you wait; there is no need to hold out for us. If one of our other homes has an opening, we will suggest it. More on what to do if the home you want is full.
Why do I need to give a holding deposit?
Once you have made the decision and choose us as your family child care provider. You will have to place a holding deposit of the monthly care fee and we will reserve a child care spot for your child. The deposit will apply to the first month of care.
If you change your mind last minute, your holding deposit will not be refunded.
Once your child is enrolled
What food does my child eat?
For infants aged 12 months and younger, parents are required to provide all breast milk, formula and bottle accessories.
For toddlers aged 12 months and above, we can offer homemade meals at no extra charge.
Different kids have different needs (meat, vegetables, milk) and amounts at different age.
We will learn from our parents about kids preference, and work with parents to provide the best for them.
Our regular meals, we have milk, meat, fruits, vegetables and grains.
How does a typical day look like?
While different sites may have different times or activities planned, for a typical day, we open at our regular business hour (8 am). Parents drop off their children between 8 am to 9:30 am. For infants, we will follow its own schedule. For children who are ready, they will have a free choice to play (indoor or outdoor). Our morning snack begins at 9:30 am. Children will have to follow the hygiene routine to wash their hands before and after the meal. They go to their designated eating areas. We will resume our self-learning and exploration with teachers from 10 am until lunchtime at 12 noon. Soon after the children finish, we will prepare them to nap between 1 pm to 3:30 pm. Children who cannot fall asleep may do quiet activities (eg, reading). We will have our afternoon snack at around 4 pm. Then we will get ready for children to get picked up.
If my child is sick, can I bring my child to the daycare?
No. Parents need to keep children at home if they are ill, not feeling well, or if they might be contagious to other children. Please call the child care provider if the child is not coming to care due to illness. The child care provider reserves the right to deny care to any child that in her judgment is ill and/or contagious to other children.
If the child becomes ill during care the child care provider will notify parents/guardians and they must pick up child as soon as possible. If your child becomes ill or injured at the family child care home and you or emergency contacts cannot be reached, the physician on the emergency form will be called. Parents should leave a signed consent form with the child's physician to proceed with the emergency treatment.
No discounts in child care fees will be given for days when your child is out ill.
What holidays do we observe?
Each home sets its own closure days, so they can differ from one home to another. Your home's handbook lists them, and we remind families before each closure. No discounts are given for days a home is closed for a holiday.
Ask the home you are interested in for its current list, or see the parents' handbook.
If I take my family out for vacations, do I need to pay?
Yes. Please pay the regular program fee to hold the child's space at the child care home.
The families' vacation: Family can take as many weeks as possible of vacation each year. Please give us a minimum 7 days' notice of any vacation.
The provider's vacation: Each year the child care provider has two weeks paid vacation. The child care will be closed during the period. The provider will give families at least 4 weeks' notice of an upcoming vacation.
(See your home's parents' handbook.)
